Step into a hands-on exploration of two powerful forces shaping our planet: the movement of water through rocks and the seismic shifts of earthquakes. Discover how water moves through different types of rocks. In this interactive station, you’ll experiment with materials of varying porosity and permeability to see how they influence water flow. Watch the buildings shake and sway in the earthquake simulation. Watch how seismic waves move through different materials and see how different structures respond to the shaking ground.

We will use household materials to synthesize a bioplastic from gelatin and glycerin. This demonstration will allow participants to see how bioplastics can be formed and their potential uses in biomedical applications as a biomaterial.

Welcome to "Soaring Skies: Paper & Straw Planes!" Build your own paper and straw airplanes and watch them soar! Experiment with different designs and see how far and high your planes can fly. It’s all about fun, creativity, and learning how flight works!

Students will receive cutouts of polyethylene sheets to draw on with colored pencils. After students have created their design, we will heat up the plastic with heat guns and it will shrink down into smaller cutout. Then, students will have their very own DIY keychain/charm!

Create your own ultraviolet-beaded bracelets while learning about light and wavelengths. Watch the beads change color under UV exposure and discover the science behind it. Perfect for curious minds eager to explore the wonders of light!

Our exhibit will consist of 3 demonstrations, a RC Helicopter, an Electromagnet display, and a Wind Turbine, to help show basic engineering principles that we encounter here at BGS with Lockheed Martin. RC Helicopter will show the relationship of the main rotor blade and Tail rotors blade and the importance of each for flight. Electromagnet with sand will show how different vibration frequencies can display various shapes. Wind Turbine will be able to show how different shapes can impact drag and stability of the object at certain speeds.
