Exhibitor: Kentucky Re-Entry Universal Payload System

Location: RGAN / First Floor

About the Exhibit

The Kentucky Re-Entry Universal Payload System (KRUPS) is a research project in the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at UK. Undergraduate, graduate, and PhD students design, build and launch small atmospheric re-entry capsules from the International Space Station and from sounding rockets launched from NASA's Wallops Flight Facility, collaborating closely with NASA engineers in the process. The KRUPS team also sponsors a RockOn Workshop team, which provides an opportunity for undergraduates to build a payload from scratch and launch it into space while spending a week at Wallops Flight Facility. Examples of KRUPS capsules, ejection mechanisms, and various payloads will be on display, as well as the opportunity to talk to current members on the team about getting involved with research on the KRUPS project.
