About the Exhibit

Kentucky Geological Survey will have two interactive exhibits plus some take-home informational pamphlets.

Earthquake shake table
Students learn how engineers design and build building to withstand the various types of seismic waves generated by earthquake. This model in particular shows how buildings of different heights react to movements at different frequencies of shaking.

Rock permeability/porosity demonstration
Porosity and permeability control the distribution of water. This helps engineers determine the suitability of a site for construction and devise appropriate strategies for foundation design and water management.
